Help Replacing microphone

Wojtek90

Newbie
While ago I tried to reset my HP touchpad by putting pin in microphone hole!!!!.
It was silly I know. .I din not know that there is microphone slot.
I should red manual first, but it happen so I probably I broke microphone, because it is not working under HP OS system neither on new installed Android CM 10. Camera working perfect in both system.
My question is where can I bay new microphone and it is difficult to replace it. I saw some instruction on the net ,but maybe anybody did it. Any tips .
Thank you .
Wojtek

Very difficult to open your touchpad, assuming you can even find one, and it takes special tools. Very likely your TP will not look as nice as before you started. Your best bet would be to find out if a Bluetooth microphone will work. I believe the headphone jack is just for phones, not a microphone/earphone combo, but that's also something you check into.

I opened my TP up to change the battery. It took a couple hours and I broke a lot of clips that hold it together (which is common). It's not a project for someone who doesn't have patience and good mechanical skills. If you screw up and break a connector, you might end up with one less tablet.

Colchiro is the expert around here opening up TouchPads, replacing batteries and breaking clips.:D

I'm sure he would be glad to fix your's for you. :aetsch:

I found the Touchpad pretty simple to open. I used an Ipad repair kit from Amazon for 1.99 and a guitar pick. To open it and disconnect the two ribbon cable took about 10 minutes. No more difficult that any other tablet, so long as you are willing to accept the possibility you could damage the unit.

As far as the mic goes, unless you are extremely skilled at board level repair on micro circuitry I don't think you will be replacing it. If I remember correctly it is soldered directly to the main board and it didn't look like it would be an easy lift to get the old one off to begin with. So the risk of permanent damage double with the desolder, lift, resolder on a repair that may or may not work.

There are several disassemble tutorials out there, but despite what they may say/show, NEVER USE METAL PRY TOOLS.

That why I am asking you my friends. You are very good on software but maybe some of you good with hardware too. Thank for advice anyway.

Probably like this:

It takes a lot of trial and error (and patience) to work on these devices. :D
