When replacing the screen protector..is it a good idea to wash the new protector under a cold tap and placing it on the screen still soaking wet with water droplets ? ( seen it one guy doing it that way in YTube)

Nope. Not if you value your device - tap water contains minerals and chemical additives that, while not being harmful to humans, will seriously mess up electronic circuits.
