Root Replacing stock mms.apk with GoSMS APK

I've got a question, as I couldn't figure out how to do it with my old lg optimus m.

is there a way, after I have installed goSMS Pro, that I can replace the stock mms.apk with it? With the optimus m, once I deleted mms.apk my messaging stopped working, and when I just put gosms into the custom rom, when I rebooted the phone MMS still started up at bootup showing all my messages I already read as new.

Anyone know if I can just simply replace the go sms apk as mms.apk and replace the stock one and it will work without removing mms functionality?
 
Make a back up just incase. But install all of them and make them your defaults then put them in the system/app folder, delete the stock ones youre replacing and reboot.

But know it may not work because they might rely on the stock apps in order to work. But give it a shot and let us know how it goes.

Make a backup first!
 
That's what i'm worried about, is that it's going to break functionality and stop working. Joneidy (made the optimus m sense rom), said that mms.apk was an essential part of the optimus m functionality, so I am not sure that it is removable.

To make the backups, do I just copy mms.apk from system/apps to my pc, and replace it with the gosms apk and reboot the droid?
 
No by back up I mean reboot into clockwork or RZR recovery and make a back up of your whole ROM just in case. If you need just the apks back me or some else here can pull/get you those ;)

Oh, I don't have a recovery on my phone. Except for being rooted to remove the LG bloatware, it's stock.
 
No! Any 3rd Party application relies on the stock app for what it does. The stock app is programmed to GeForce the messages and view them, along with sending them out. it is programmed to connect to Metro basically and send them out that way. GoSMS just receives the viewing information from the stock app and then sends the reply off to the stock app when u hit send and then the stock app actually sends it. there is NO app that takes the place of the stock MMS.apk.

But it won't. We have tested it it's great
 
also if you rooted your phone you already voided your warranty so why not go ahead and install a custom rom, and you can always return to stock.
 
Yes, it's easier returning to complete stock than it is even rooting your device LoL... CWM is just as easy as rooting the device LoL you can't break your phone installing CWM... you can just use the LG Update Tool to return to DEAD Stock on ZVC.
