Repurposing as a clock

Samsung galaxy s6 - android 7.

I have tried various no lock apps, but no luck.

Unless its a setting i missed in Android 7, I am looking keep the display on always.

I did find a few always on apps - but there forcing me to use their clocks and I do have my own clock app.

Thanks - where is “Keep screenturned on“ ?
I do not see it in Settings/Display.

I see a “Keep screenturned off “ for preventing coming on in dark areas and in have that unchecked.

Sorry sethm1. I just checked the S6 Setting menu for Screen Timeout and there is no such option. I have it on my LG G6, I thought Samsung would have offered a similar option. There is an app called "No Screen Off" in the Play Store that should do the trick. Turn on No Screen Off, run your clock app and there you go until your battery runs out.

Are you planning on keeping the device charging all the time while using it as a clock?

If so, in the hidden developer options on Android devices, there's an option called "stay awake" which will prevent the device from sleeping while charging.

Usually to get to developer options you go to settings>about and tap on the build number 7 times. Then an developer options will show up in your settings.

In not 100% sure if any manufacturers remove this functionality in their build, but it might be worth trying.

Keep awake while charging should be available on the S6. However, remember that the display is AMOLED. What you intend to do by using that feature is a good way to burn the screen.

A better option is to install Google News and Weather, set it up, then go to settings>display>screensaver, and choose that. This will show clock, news, and headlines on the screen while the phone is charging, but it will also move around the display like the AOD clock on the S7, making it much less likely to cause burn in.
