Request for help: mobile network errors on Galaxy S3

Hi all,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 (International unlocked version) that I purchased from a 3rd party seller on Amazon. I'm experiencing a lot of network errors whenever I'm using the mobile network. Things seem to work fine when I'm on WiFi.

I would have apps fail to sign me in or fail to make facebook updates. Usually some kind of message appears saying "connection lost, tap to retry" or "failed to connect to 8tracks service". Some apps are so bad, that I have never actually got it to work (8tracks). Other apps work on and off (Facebook). More apps give similar errors (Yahoo finance). The reason I think it is the phone/OS is because it seems to be prevalent across many different apps. What is even weirder is if some apps are failing, I would immediately use another app and it would work just fine (Chrome); suggesting the network is up and running.

Of course, during all of this I clearly have a 3G/HSDPA signal (as seen in the status bar).

I understand network issues is a tricky problem to solve, so I'm open to any ideas - even if it requires me to install some debugging software. I'm not very familiar with the Android OS, but I'm fairly familiar with Linux so I can do some tcpdumps and systraces (if they exist on Android?).

I'm having the exact same problem and my phones brand new and from the network itself. I've been on the phone for half hour to my network and it's still not sorted! They said Facebook is because of flash player isn't installed on the phone or something? I'm glad someone else is having the same problem. I thought it was just me!

Are you accessing via apps or the web browsers? if you are using the web browser, have you tried other browsers like Chrome or Firefox for Android? both are available on the Play Store.

I seem to have managed to sort mine out. If you go into settings, more settings, mobile networks and then click on access point names.

Mine was on orange wap so I changed it to orange Internet and it seems to be working fine now! Have a look there and see if that works :-)

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

To reiterate, this only happens on a few apps. The following apps work fine most of the time: Facebook, Gmail, Spotify, Chrome, etc.. The following apps *only* work when on Wi-Fi: Yahoo Finance, 8tracks and a few others.
