Help "Request permission" notification for gmail account

Since I changed my google password via the web last week, I've been getting this message in my notification shade. I updated my google password on the phone immediately, and I can't figure out what app is requesting permission. When I click the notification, it just disappears. When I pull up the recent app list, a blank app with a google triangle or play store symbol (can't recall right now) is in the list, but clicking that doesn't pull anything up either.

Does anyone know what this is about?

Yes, I can access all of my google services it seems, but why am I getting this request permission thing? it doesn't seem to be related to anything. the newly attached picture shows the background running apps, it's a black square with a Google colored puzzle piece. Clicking the notification does nothing and clicking the image in the app list does nothing.

Hmmm....I have not run across this before.
Perhaps just try a reboot of the device?

If that doesn't work, then go to the playstore app, and clear cache and data and sign in again?
