Root Rerooting after upgrading to froyo

Hey all,

I once rooted my Vibrant (using a manual procedure that I have since forgotten and wasn't I smart enough to bookmark). Rooting worked fine, and life was good.

A couple of months ago, I took an OTA upgrade to froyo via Kies, Love the new OS, but I noticed that my wifi tether no longer works. It complains that I am no longer rooted. Doing "su" at a shell also says permission denied.

So, was looking at ways to root in froyo. Tried doing it manually from the recovery menu, but always got the dreaded "E:signature verification failed". Apparently, this is a common problem with froyo in general.

Also tried SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse.zip, and it says that root install completed OK, and it's test says that the phone is rooted (though I am confused about the "Allow in Superuser", as I don't have the superuser app installed). If I try running it a second time, it warns me that the phone is already rooted. So, the app appears to have worked. However, when I reboot, the tether still doesn't work and su still gives me permission errors.

So, any ideas on what to try next?

Found it myself. For anyone else with a similar problem, I had to install the Superuser app (by ChainsDD) from the market place. Then, when I do su at the terminal, the Superuser app asks me if I want to grant the terminal permission. Same for other apps when they try to do something rooty. Perhaps I am dense, but I never saw mention of that when I was looking up ways to root an android.

Glad to hear you got everything working.
