Root Reset phone (Custom rom installed)(Xperia Z1)

I purchased an imported xperia z1 a few months ago. It was sold to me rooted and installed with custom rom android 4.4.4. Now i want to just want to clean install with the same thing. I fear that it will get locked or my phone will stop reading my sim if i do reset from settings. My phone came with an app NDR utils. I guess i have to do it from there. Any idea which option to select??

A factory reset will just erase user data and apps. It won't change the ROM in any way.

I'm unfamiliar with NDR Utils, so think it's best you get advice from people with the same device. Hang on a minute and I'll move the thread to the Z1 All Things Root forum, where you should get better device-specific advice.

You can restore Sony handsets back to stock very easily with something called Flash tool and an ftf file.. You're best to use one designated for your country and network though.

Where are you and what network are you on and I'll have a look for the best match for you.

India .. and my network provider is BSNL. Actually my question was if i reset my phone from settings then it will install factory version or the one i have currently installed?

Apologies, it's late here and I totally misunderstood what you were asking!

You're best to reset from recovery if you're on a custom ROM. Select Team Win from NDR and reset from there. It will be the same ROM, but a fresh install.

It will be the same ROM, but a fresh install.

Thanks a lot. This is exactly what i want. Two more questions. What are the other two options for? Will i need to unlock my device for my network provider or it will function directly as it is doing now? And what option to select .. fastboot or recovery??

It's recovery you want, fastboot is a special mode you can boot too if you want to issue certain commands to your device via your PC. I think you could reset from there, but it's best to do it from recovery.

A reset won't wipe the SIM unlock, so if it works fine now, it will after the reset. :)
