Help "Reset to Factory" missing from recovery menu, help please

My Posh Micro X s240 will not boot. When I press the power button, the Posh logo comes up but nothing else happens. I can get into the recovery menu by pressing Up Volume and Power simultaneously, which gets me to the Android lying on his back and the recovery menu. According to several websites, such as http://www.hard-reset.com/posh-mobile-micro-x-s240-hard-reset.html, one of the options on the recovery menu should be "wipe data/Factory Reset" but that option is not in my memo.

The problem is exactly the same as experienced by Triggergunn in his post at
http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/id-3350027/posh-fashing.html. The solution offered in the only reply, by webworkings, does not help. Just as was the case for Triggergunn, the only options in my menu are "reboot, update from a, or update from s."

A short video showing the problem is at:

Any ideas how to do a factory reset or otherwise get the phone working again? The Posh runs on Android 4.

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks for the replies. I have not been able to get to the Boot Menu as shown in the link provided by svim. Pressing the Volume Up and Power buttons together takes me instead to the Android lying on his back. From there, I can only get to the Recovery Menu, which looks identical to the screen in step 6 of the link provided by svim, except that menu has more options (mine only has 3, see attached pic).

Perhaps MikeStoney is correct and I need to reflash? Anything else to try before attempting to reflash?

I was able to reflash using the link provided by Mikestony. If anyone else needs to do this, be careful on that xsflashfiles site, very misleading, they try to trick you into downloading other stuff.

Anyhow, the phone is working again. Only problem is that the new ROM does not have Play store and other Google apps.

Looks like it is not so easy to install Play and other Google apps. Anyone know where to find the ROM that comes with the phone, which has all the Gapps?

Still looking for the ROM that comes with the phone, no one knows where to find it?

The Korean ROM in Mikestony's link works but no Gapps, and I could not install Gapps despite substantial effort.

I then reflashed with the ROM at http://www.needrom.com/download/elephone-q-stock-rom/. This ROM is for the very similar Elephone Q, it works on the Posh Micro, and it has Gapps. But after just one day, the original problem resurfaced, even with the new ROM. The logo comes up but the phone will not boot up.

There is a good chance that your phone's manufacturer simply never made stock ROMs for that model publicly available. Most, but not certainly not all, of the major manufacturers do, the issue being a lot of smaller, independent phone companies just don't have the resources available for any kind of post-sale tech support, or they just don't bother (the download servers hosting ROMs have to be funded in some way, and maintained, non of which is free). Note that the ROM you tried that resulted in no Google services was not a stock ROM but rather some third-party ROM, deceptively claiming to be stock (otherwise it should have included the Google services package). As for using other ROMs for other phone models, that's going to either brick your phone, or result in a phone that runs in an unstable way, or at best missing out on functionality. ROMs are generally specific to each model, they are not interchangeable. (Every phone comes with different hardware configurations, and its matching ROM contains only the software that directly correlates with that specific hardware.)

Taking into consideration it's age and very low system resources (512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 432x240 resolution screen), I'm assuming that you don't want to get this phone working again as a daily usage phone but rather more of a learning project? If it's for daily usage I'd recommend just shopping around for a better, newer phone -- even if you do get it running normally again you're always going to be fighting with it because of so little working and storage memory, plus there will be a lot of compromises involved when using online services.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I've already spent far too much time on this project so it is a learning experience, although there is a practical reason why I'd like to get the Posh working. I launch model rockets and the Posh is so small I can place it inside a rocket and use the Posh's GPS to find the rocket if it lands too far away. It was just perfect for that task as it is tiny, lightweight, and it works with a free FreedomPop sim card. It cost less than $50 and the only comparable phone still in production, the UniHertz Jelly, costs over $125.

Posh did have the ROM on its website earlier in 2018, but now the site has gone down (poshmobile.com), the company is out of business. I was hoping someone had a copy, I should have saved a copy myself while I still had a chance. The ROM is supposedly available at https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=file&id=34328, but you have to pay to join.

The Elephone Q ROM has been reported to be working on the Posh by several websites, some say they are just rebranded copies of the same phone, but maybe not, I see the specs are slightly different. The Elephone Q ROM worked fine on mine until the original problem resurfaced, so perhaps there is more than a firmware issue. Maybe I'll reflash it and just never turn off the phone. Or maybe I'll have to give up and shell out the $125 for a Jelly.

Thanks again,
Bill
