You didn't say what phone you have .... so this is a guess...

But you might try press and hold the HOME & Power button ... until you get a display...

Then try the HOME & BACK key to reboot ...

 
It is Motorola Droid. I tried the power & home button. Only the little green light near the power button is flashing
