Help Resetting device.

Hello,

yesterday i got a xperia tablet. set it all up with my account. added my apps onto it only then to notice 3 dead pixels. i am sending it back to amazon but obviously wanted to make sure it was wiped before i sent it back and got my replacement. i did a reset to factory settings but i have been hearing it doesnt delete your data?? can i go back into it now and encrypt the data even though i have already done the reset?

Unless someone goes to the extreme of using expensive data recovery techniques, a factory reset is perfectly adequate.
