Root Resolution increase with icon upscaling

Is there any way that we could increase the resolution (lower DPI), and then upscale all UI elements to fit to the new resolution? Then we could have apps like facebook have the borders at the top and bottom be smaller and we could see more on the screen. This is all completely wrong probably and im out of my mind but the idea just popped in.

I used an app called McTweaker to change Dpi settings and resolution a while back.
