ReSpot - Spotify Remote for Android

Ok with the premium account and with the playback issue, but still no playlists despite restarting Servify a few times... not really sure I got you about the first install/client issue :-(

anything else I can do to load my playlists? (key feature!)

Not much more than to wait and then retry again. Usually they'll come around within a few hours at least.. except during weekends.

It's a pain when debugging and the servers are not up to par ...

Ok, no worries, I'll keep trying until it works.
Thanks for all the pointers & let us know when that slick interface by @coxy becomes available...cheers!

To those who'd like to improve the GUI: please contact me as I need files in PNG and maybe some other requirements needed due to layouting (making it all fit together).

why do i have to be a premium spotify user for this?

i just want to control spotify running on my pc from my phone. as much as its great i dont want to pay for spotify

Spotify only allows Premium users to use API access.
Despotify/Jotify imposes the same restrictions.

The other way to "remote" Spotify is to use one hack or another to send commands to the official client, this however is prone to break and makes playlist handling hard / impossible to implement.

ok so i figured ive just got an android phone and really wanted to see what the official spotify app is like, and this.

should i be running spotify on my machine when using this?? or does it just connect to spotify servers?

also on full spotify client when searching for artists, and then clicking on artist, and it shows all albums etc from that artist. if you play a song it will then just keep going through all the songs from all the albums... can you do this on respot? so it plays all the songs, and then if you want to skip some you can just click next

cheers

There's no need to have the official client running when using ReSpot. All you need is Servify.

Yeah, this is definitely something i've been thinking of implementing. Artist / Album browse should be fairly straightforward.

I'm currently testing a upcoming release of ReSpot which implements 'Shuffle'.

quick question, is there a pause?

Unfortunately not, yet...

Personally i'd like to have seek & pause implemented, and it's absolutely doable. Just requires a bit more work than a couple of other easy wins.

And I'm not sure how to incorporate 'seek' functionality etc in the UI. (help still wanted with pimping the UI / redesigning it.. ;) )

what happened to this guy?

Not sure.. Got a quite a few offers of help that day. Tried reaching out but no one came back..

And the above mockup while neat and all isnt something i can use unless it's split up in separate parts and as .PNG format... (ie: need icons for the buttons etc etc).

any good?

Judge for yourself:

I'll be using them for the next update. Thanks :)

for those on ubuntu you just need to install libasound2-dev

Thanks!

Updated the instructions with:
sudo apt-get install alsa-utils libasound2 libasound2-dev

Since the instructions use 'apt-get' they're mostly just applicable for debian/ubuntu anyway i'd think :)

New version released, 2010.02.11

+ Mutes sound on incoming call
+ Blue volume slider
+ QVGA support (HTC Tattoo among others)

Get it now! And upgrade servify while you're at it!

There was a small issue with the first Servify/J patch today, if you're experiencing issues please try to update to the latest version.

Hey, this is great! Wanted this sort of app for ages, anyway I was gonna knock up a UI for ya but the originals link doesn't work, could you repost the new link or something? Cheers!
