Root Restore stock ROM using Linux

Hi All!

I'm looking to return my old HTC Desire to the stock ROM, so I can sell it. It's unbranded, purchased in the UK, so I just need the WWE version (I think..?)

There are guides, but unfortunately they all use Windows and I don't have access to a Windows machine - I'm on Linux.

The phone is currently running CM7, so is rooted, and has access to an SD card. Is there any way I can flash the stock ROM onto it the same way as I put CM7 on? i.e. - copy a zip file onto the SD card and flash it..?

Steve :)

Security Off. It opens up a whole load more possibilities than just rooting. You can change your hboot (internal partitions) & uninstall system apps from within android plus other things too.

You need to boot into the bootloader (from off hold volume down while pressing power) & the white screen will state s-off or s-on.

Sorry, on holiday so not here much :)

Flashing from recovery will still leave a custom recovery, and ROMs flashable that way will be rooted.

If shipped-ROMs have the WWE stock ROM as a PB99IMG.zip you can download that, copy to sd card (renamed to PB99IMG.zip), boot into hboot and it will ask whether you want to install. That will be same as running an RUU.
