Restoring apps from one device to another.

Hello! so my question is pretty simple but i have not encountered the answer anywhere yet.
so i have a tmo gs2 rooted running jugg and a gtab10 running ics and before the gtab10 i had a transformer prime stock and unrooted. even back when i had the prime i was able to just log in to my google account for the first time and all my previously downloaded apps from my phone would start downloading by themselves without me having to do anything. when i moved on to my gtab10 about a month ago i was able to replicate the same thing exactly by jus logging in. i had some hardware problems with it so i returned it under the 30 day warranty and got a brand new gtab10 again last week where i was able to, once again, replicate this by simply logging in to the android market.
here's the thing tho, my girlfriend had a desire hd running some ics rom and she had a transformer prime as well and her apps never restored like mine did upon logging in. we didnt give it much thought then but now that she has a htc sensation running ics and also has a gtab10 like me running the same exact rom it doesnt restore the apps on hers still. this is weird because we've messed with a bunch of her settings and looked around in forums and such. anyone know of a way to get the apps to sync themselves without having to use a 3rd party app?

assuming she configured her same gmail address on her new device, when she goes to the market, are all her paid apps listed there? They should unless the apps are not compatible with the new device, then they might not be listed at all

That's unusual that the apps automatically download onto the new device. All the devices that I've had have never automatically downloaded the apps...Wouldn't you prefer to only download the apps that you want, instead of having them all download?

she has the same gmail address on her tablet but whenever we go into 'my apps' in the market, none of her apps appear. However, if we were to put my account on her devices, they will show up, but hers will not on my devices.

I'd prefer them to all download sometimes when I am flashing a new rom on my phone or my gf's phone. This would make it more convenient as 3rd party apps such as Titanium Backup only install them one by one MANUALLY..

It's purely a personal preference and IDK if you have 'Backup and Restore' checked for your google account on your device settings, but that should help it (although it did not help in my gf's case)

Yep, apps not restoring properly is a known Market bug. You can sometimes fix it, oddly enough, by going to the Google account, and validating the account via an SMS message. That often but not always makes the Market register the phone correctly.

Also, check your account settings in the Market on the web, ensure that all devices are known.

PS - the paid version of Titanium Backup and the free version of MyBackup Root are more convenient. ;) For unrooted phones, MyBackup Pro is full of win.

Fwiw, it's never happened to me either. When I hooked up the my transformer to the same gmail account as my main handset (Desire HD), nothing downloaded automatically. Likewise with my work handset (Wildfire S). I presumed it was a standard thing and not a bug. If I access the market and hit My Apps on my WS/Transformer, I do get a list of the apps I've paid for though.

As EM suggested though, it's easy enough to accomplish with Titanium & Dropbox (I transferred my Angry Birds progress from phone to tab in about 5 minutes).

hmmm.. it seems like thins is something that only happens to me without the need of any 3rd party apps... its weird but i can replicate it every time. last night i flashed another rom on my gtab10 and didnt backup my apps with titanium or anything and as soon as i logged in to the market and accepted the agreements, my tablet started lagging a lot for a few seconds, then i saw on the notification bar that it was downloading a bunch of my apps without me even telling it to. weird phenomenom. i always thought it was a regular thing and that my gf was just missing some option i had selected. but like i said, we've searched my phone and my account up and down many times and nothing seems to differ from hers. oh well, thanks for your time guys :)
