Restoring backup after ROM update (with Sprite)

Hi folks - finally updating to latest firmware, and restoring backups taken with Sprite Backup.

I have heard people saying that restoring Application info doesn't work and it doesn't inform you of updates properly - best not to restore this bit, and just reinstall the applications manually.

Is this true? Have deselected it on the restore so far.

Actually we don't restore the actual application yet, we leave that up to the marketplace downloader (for now at least, still working on the kinks to get around breaking tie between applications restored and future updates from marketplace).

We do restore some application settings (applications settings category of restore categories page), and the application settings category of a Sprite Restore brings things like footprints, plurks and other HTC application settings across your ROM upgrade.
