"Restrict Background Data"?

Before lollipop, I had "Restrict background data" selected under the regular power saving mode and it would always stay enabled when I selected power saver. After lollipop, once I select it it does not enable that setting the next time I use power saving. Each time I enable power saving mode, I have to go into the settings and enable it manually. I find this kind of stupid seeing as restricting background data is one of the best things you can do to save power. Anyone know how to make this setting "stick"?

Also, this also happened before lollipop but it's also bugging me. When turning off "location" in the quick menu and then re-enabling it, it automatically defaults to "high accuracy". However, if you perform the same process again (disable and re-enable) you would think it would go backwards but it doesn't. It stays on high accuracy... Does anyone know of a way to ensure the default is "power saving" unless otherwise changed? It's a shame because the S5 doesn't display the GPS symbol unless you're in an app using it yet with "high accuracy" enabled it is secretly killing your battery in the background.

I use MacroDroid to always turn off DATA/WiFi when the phone goes to sleep.

that simple setup will give your S5, or other phone, extraordinary battery life.

You do NOT have to worry about going to Lower Power Mode, when the internet is turned OFF (no data or WiFi possible), no app can send/receive data period.

I have two S5 phones, both are configured identically with MacroDroid.
My phone with average use gives me 2 days per charge cycle.

My wife's phone is "just a telephone" and not used otherwise. Her battery life is so extreme most folks don't believe me it can go for two weeks between charges (to a flat battery). I watch it and about once a week when it drops to 50 percent or there abouts, I put it back on the Qi wireless pad and top it off again. See the attached screenshot.

If you have trouble setting up the macros, I will be glad to help.
Look at my signature, that should give you a hint on how to do it.

I appreciate the response. I may check it out. It is just frustrating that a simple feature that I loved from kit kat has been harder to access.

Another thing I notice now, is the location mode altogether defaults to being off when switching out of ultra power saving mode. This limits google now's usefulness and I don't notice it's off until eventually the card comes up suggesting that I enable the location feature...

Is Lollipop 5.1 planned for a mass release in North America or do carriers only usually release the major builds?

I can't help you with VZW's Lollipop, sorry.

In the USA, the major carriers all massage the Android releases to incorporate their own bloatware.

that slows down the release cycle a lot.

For a flagship like the Galaxy S5 I'd bet most or all carriers will release 5.1, but like AZgl1500 said it could be awhile before it's available.
