Help Restricting App downloads

I need to know if there is a way to lock the downloading of apps on the Gingerbread platform. I need to download one App, and then restrict all other downloads except the downloads to update that singular App. Is there a way to accomplish this?

I think you have 2 options
1. Disable all apps except the one you want updated
2. Set all apps to update over wifi. You will receive notifications of available updates so just press on the one you want to update and it should download the update over the mobile data network
