There used to be a dedicated Thread for Telus Motorola Milestone on the Alldroid.org forum. Unfortunately the owner of the forum closed the site and deleted all of the old posts. (it has been re-opened but all old threads were lost) I spent a couple hours to recover the old thread before its lost forever. I believe since this information was contributed by multiple members, it belongs to the community and should be made available to everyone on a reliable forum. So I decided to repost it on androidforums. I have also included all 12 pages 114 posts from the original thread in txt format <attached below> for those that want to dig in deeper in finding an answer to a question they may have. I found this info extremely helpful and I hope others find it just as helpful.
* The only credit I take is re-posting this information. I did not put this together, nor did I write any of the How Tos.
Enjoy!

there is a telus nandroid backup now for those of you who think rooting with that will not void warrenty. it still will, this method still works, and my phone ran flawlessly when i had it with all the stuff in this thread.
had not a single problem with any of it. but if you search youll find the telus firmware dealio. i sold my milestone awhile back i can no longer test things thats why there hasnt been updates ect.. but as far as im concerned this method works fine.
just a note:
before rooting this way, my phone would random restarts and was sluggish, after this i rarely if ever got any random reboots that werent my fault. i ran at 500/550 on setcpu *cant overclock but u can bring the lower end up to par* so it ran alot smoother even with livewallpapers running.
all of this comes from a couple forums + different threads, thought it would be easier to have it all here in 1 post and in the first/second post of the thread instead of sorting through 28 pages trying to find all the info you needed.
that being said, if you notice anything wrong or something isnt right, pm me or @JamieD81 twitter me and i will fix it or help you the best i can.
before you start, i notice this thread is being linked on a bunch of sites, which will bring people that arent fully aware of the dangers and difficulty of some of the things in this thread, please PLEASE PLEASE read very carefully and make sure this is something you want to do, because there is NO going back at this point, we do NOT have a telus/canadian SBF to fall back on. So with that being said, if you feel like you want to dive into this, be very carefull and READ EVERYTHING FULLY! DO NOT SKIP ANY STEPS
WINDOWS 7 USERS READ THIS
http://alldroid.org/threads/showthread.php?p=562771#post562771
I used RSDLite 4.5.5 and changed the Compatibility Mode to Windows Vista SP2 and ran in Administrator Mode. That went off without a hitch.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing Stock Telus Milestone Apps::
ok one more thing, i HATED the camera app that came with the brazilian sbf so here is the telus one::
**NEW**
THIS WILL OVERWRITE THE BRAZILIAN ONE AND MAKE THE TELUS ONE STOCK
meaning when you click the camera button to open camera telus one will open up

the brazilian camera like i did*
this way will also back up the brazilian camera app to /sdcard/camerabak/ in case u want it again at some point.

cp -f /sdcard/CameraMoto.apk /system/app/Camera.apk
mount -o remount,ro /dev/mtd/mtdblock6 /system
sync
reboot
thanks again supermalloch!
done. back to the good camera/camcorder app!
more stock telus motorola milestone apps that were deleted during brazilian sbf!
Motonav apk
MotoCarDock apk
Launcher2 apk *buggy so use only if you want, allows interacting with live wallpaper*
Voice apk *voice search and txt from 2.1*
download this file and unzip it,
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service <-- has the new files and removed old not working file.
place the apk files where-ever you place them on your sdcard, i have a folder named /apps where i store all mine.
now open astro or an apk installer, and go to where the apps are and install them as normal. again if a msg
pops up just click ok. if any of these give you an error "cant be installed" or anything like that let me know.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
you can now also open marketplace and download "Spare Parts" it unlocks some things that android never added to settings.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Installing Stock Telus Milestone Apps::
ok one more thing, i HATED the camera app that came with the brazilian sbf so here is the telus one::
**NEW**
THIS WILL OVERWRITE THE BRAZILIAN ONE AND MAKE THE TELUS ONE STOCK
meaning when you click the camera button to open camera telus one will open up
*havent tested but source says it works!* good news for milestone owners that hate
the brazilian camera like i did*
this way will also back up the brazilian camera app to /sdcard/camerabak/ in case u want it again at some point.
step 1: download the apk
http://rapidshare.com/files/36214970...aMoto.zip.html
MIRROR MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
step 2: place cameramoto.apk on root of sdcard
step 3: open terminal or adb shell and follow these commands
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock6 /system
mkdir /sdcard/camerabak/
cp /system/app/Camera.apk /sdcard/camerabak/Camera.apk.bak
cp -f /sdcard/CameraMoto.apk /system/app/Camera.apk
mount -o remount,ro /dev/mtd/mtdblock6 /system
sync
reboot
thanks again supermalloch!
done. back to the good camera/camcorder app!
more stock telus motorola milestone apps that were deleted during brazilian sbf!
Motonav apk
MotoCarDock apk
Launcher2 apk *buggy so use only if you want, allows interacting with live wallpaper*
Voice apk *voice search and txt from 2.1*
download this file and unzip it,
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service <-- has the new files and removed old not working file.
place the apk files where-ever you place them on your sdcard, i have a folder named /apps where i store all mine.
now open astro or an apk installer, and go to where the apps are and install them as normal. again if a msg
pops up just click ok. if any of these give you an error "cant be installed" or anything like that let me know.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
you can now also open marketplace and download "Spare Parts" it unlocks some things that android never added to settings.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

!!!!HOW TO BACKUP AND RESTORE!!!!
YOU NEED SDK INSTALLED AND USE OF ADB COMMANDS!!!!
no terminal emulator for this.
download this:
http://alldroid.org/download/file.php?id=1481
unzip
put recovery folder + update.zip on root of sdcard
this means dont put the put_on_sd folder on your sdcard!
just recovery folder + update.zip
power phone down
power up while holding CAMERA
slide out keyboard
press and hold volume up, then press camera
press apply update.zip
press ok
let it run
now open CMD prompt as admin on your computer.
type these.
cd..
cd..
cd c:\ whereever your sdk is installed\tools <-- remember it cant have spaces AT ALL
mines at c:\android-sdk-windows\tools
ADB Shell
su
nandroid-mobile.sh --backup
name it something easy i used telus-backup
let it run its course.
press reboot phone now
and to restore just type this instead of --backup
nandroid-mobile.sh --restore
type telus-backup then enter.
YES you HAVE to apply the update.zip everytime you want to use ADBRecovery. so keep
it on the root of your sdcard, if you need to put another update.zip for some reason
on your sdcard, move the adbrecovery update.zip to another folder on sd then move back
to root when your done with the other update.zip
THANKS goes out to DAGr8 for helping me with this and pointing me in the right direction.
if you are applying a nandroid from the nandroid backup thread, make sure you put it in the right folder
before you try and restore it. and make sure its a 2.0.1 brazilian backup!!!!
