Retain Email

I use pop3 and read my email on the Samsung Galaxy SII. There I leave on server. When I download email to the pc I delete from server. This is the way I want it. Sometimes I receive an email to the Samsung that I want to retain on the Samsung. These last few days it is deleting all email as I read it from the Samsung. I have synch turned off but it does warn me some programs are going to synch anyway. I have "leave email on server" as said from the SII but how do I retain all the emails on the phone. (I have no wish to retain email on phone that I have not read on the phone so its okay that I delete them from the server when read on pc.

Android does not retain email on the phone. It is always "on demand" download to keep memory free. Email storage does not use the SD card so this is why its handled this way.

That's just the way POP3 mail works. It will stay on the phone if you do NOT delete it on the PC. Nothing's wrong with your phone.

Thanks for the reply. Is there an email app I can download. I recieve emails I wish to keep. For instances invitations to meetings with times, names and addresses in. Partly for this purpose I have ordered a 64GB SD card.

It's not a matter of an app. Again, that's just the way POP3 mail works. It will stay on the phone if you do NOT delete it on the PC. So don't delete mail on the PC you want to keep on the phone.

Your only other choice is to convert your email account(s) to IMAP.

Give K9 a try. With K9 you can choose to store emails internally or on the sd card. There is also a box to uncheck to leave emails on the phone when removed from the server.
