Did you make a backup before hand?
If so,
back up this rom

Restore previous rom

Restore current roms backup

Install app again

Use restore option

i backed everything up via nandroid. is there any way that I can just pull it from there?

It's not quite that simple. It's stored in data/data/com.Android.providers.telephony/databases/

It's called mmssms.db
It's sqlite format.
it's a database file and the texts are 'built' from it

Just make a nand of this rom, restore the old one's nand
Backup the files with the app i linked, and restore the nand for your current rom. Then just restore them

i have the nand backup. i have already flashed my phone with a new rom. can i still do this?

Yes

1.back up current rom

2.restore previous rom (via cwm/whatever you created the backup with)

3.backup texts with aforementioned app

4.restore current rom (via cwm/whatever you used to create the backup)

5.reinstall aforementioned app

6.use restore feature in app

7.press thanks button

Yes, but i have not found a way to make the system build the texts...

Honestly, all the time you spent questioning this simple solution, you could have done it several times by now......
