returning droid 2.

i know they have less battery on the galaxy s' .. but i am 100% positive it is twice as much as what my battery is getting i know for a fact its defective.. verizon guy told me ; but he wanted me to mail it in .. 1 i cant go that long without a phone 2 i dont want a refurbished one when i BOUGHT THE PHONE BRAND NEW day 1 ... thats kinda like a f*** you to me.. + i rather the fascinate anyways.

If the Verizon guy told you it's defective and you're w/in 30days they should give you a new one, not wait for refurbished. You either need to talk to a different rep, or go to a different store.

im done with this phone.. at first the battery seemed like it would get better ; but no. today i had it in my pocket background data off & brightness @ 0% .. ALL DAY texted twice & got one incoming call that i ignored .. i get out of school & i had 30% battery.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! im bringing it back next week to switch for the samsung fascinate. anyone else having 2nd thoughts or doing the same?

Man, I'm right there with you. I got it on Aug. 12 (release date) and since then have already done a FACTORY reset and had to take the battery out TWICE to reset it after it froze. Its shameful actually... sometimes I feel like my Touch Pro 2 was better, oh and the camera... pffffft, wow.

What "verizon guy"? We took our Droid 2 that was having problems to one of the nearby corporate stores. They tried a Factory Reset and anthing else they could think of and eventually decided that it was indeed defective. We walked out a few minutes later with a new phone out of their stock.

Even if a defective phone was handled via mail they would usually send you a replacement and then you would send back the one you have. Something just does not sound right. Since you seem to have given up on the Droid 2 and apparently have decided that you want the Fascinate instead, maybe you should just wait until that comes out.

yea im 100% sure on the fascinate now.. but i was dealing with best buy mobile. i asked if i could just have a new battery & he goes no you have to mail the phone back. i asked cant i just trade it in? he goes no. because we dont know if its defective.. i dont have time for that bull i payed 200$ for a defective phone wit shi**y customer service. hopefully the fascinate comes out on thursday & wont have any problems. but yes ive done TWO factory resets.. drained the battery TWICE & tried everything. it is 100% defective:mad:

You previously stated that the Verizon guy told you your device was defective but now you say that it was actually BestBuy and they wouldn't state that it was defective. It's difficult to help, and frustrating for those trying to help, when provided conflicting and misleading information but then I'm getting the impression that you aren't actually looking for help or a solution. Good luck with your Fascinate.

When you get your Fascinate and need help with it try going to an actual Verizon Wireless company store. Not best buy, not an authorized reseller. Stores owned and operated by Verizon w/ real actual demo phones.

Good luck, hope you enjoy your future phone because that's really all that matters. Here's your new home. Samsung Fascinate - Android Forums :p

Go with the Droid Incredible..

Let me get this straight. The op is complaining about battery life and your recommending a droid incredible? This could go down as the worst recommendation ever. Lulz. A coworker has the incredible and it's constantly on the charger. The droid 2 gets way better battery life.

I can almost assure you that it is something you're probably doing wrong. I can go a whole day with lots of activity and be at 50-60% by the end of the night. The phone has a great battery. Most folks problem is that they have a boatload of widgets (most of them useless) to look cool and apps running. I watch videos, leave gmail running (background sync ON), tweet, surf the net and more. I even workout for an hour listening to music. I had Beautiful Widgets running and couldnt keep any battery life. Since removing it I've had no problems. Make sure YOU are not the guilty party.

It's still messy and garish, like disco humped by a Day-Glo monkey tripping neon balls on paint fumes. (Neon blue is never an acceptable font color.)

Facsinate = no google. Search engine is Bing. No access to google market nor google apps. Have fun with it.

You certainly have access to the market...all Android phones do.

Some apps might be hidden/blocked on the Fascinate, but the market is there.

That said, based on what I'm reading there is NO WAY I would consider this phone...Android platform is supposed to be open, certainly not locked to Bing and tied to Verizon's Nav.

I think the biggest threat to the Android platform is non-uninstallable apps, including the blockbuster/city ID crap we have to deal with. The problem is, every carrier does it to some degree. It makes me wish we could still buy phones directly from Google.

After a replacement battery, rooting, underclocking, unrooting and every other manner of ridiculousness, I have given up on my D2. I had the D1 from launch and loved that phone and wish I had never let it go. The D2 was nothing but problems for me and that locked bootloader sealed the deal for me.

I went in today and exchanged for the Samsung Fascinate and was pretty shocked to find that this phone is actually working more smoothly and benchmarking higher than my D2 despite running 2.1 - I can only imagine once I get that beautiful JIT compiler.

Anyway, good luck to you all. I'm kind of sad to leave my lurking of the Moto Droid community behind. Worry not, someone will crack that bootloader!

Bootloader cracking is not a big issue...i don't know why it keeps coming up, frankly..we have clockwork recovery, are getting and will continue to get ROMs, and with a 1 ghz processor I'm not worried about overclocking..... :)

I run my at 800 Mhz. :)

I run my at 800 Mhz. :)

I have SetCPU settings to run mine at max 300 when the screen is off, max 800 when charging (since charging adds heat in addition to CPU heat) and clock it down if it exceeds a set temperature or when the battery gets very low.
