Returning Samsung Galaxy S III

I can understand HTC does have really good build quality, but I won't be keeping mine for over a year anyway. Technology is changing so fast I don't know why any geek would :D

same here. I never keep a phone more than a few months. The tech is advancing so fast and I like trying out the latest and greatest:p

I kinda read this alittle differently I suppose. Lets face it, when the hype wears off after a few hours or days, it's just a smartphone. Sure, it's as awesome as phones can get.. and does more then you're more the likely to ever use. I'm very tech savvy and while I'll play with every feature, I'll probably not use 1/4 of those features daily. I think after the initial new phone euphoria wears off, you start looking at the cost (and in the case of the S3, the effort to get one). It's easy to see why someone would return one. It could just be they are realistic about what they will use on the phone and the HTC met those needs.

but the OP already has one so he/she went through all that effort. Most would play with one before or know that they like htc and go with htc not just blindly say I will go with this phone even though I really want an htc. Seems kind of counterproductive to me. Personally I would never touch another htc device. Got burned to many times with god awful battery life( inc, tb) that unless they come out with a phone that has a battery the size of the maxx, I will never go back.

How does the OP know for sure that the features they are looking for are not on the S3? They only gave it 2 days? Sounds like the whole switching phone brands thing just freaked them out more than anything.

Just use Nova Launcher and stop bitching. Sense sucks, and TouchWiz is okay, but a dumbed down version of Nova without all the features.

While I see no need to berate or assail the OP, I would ask if 2 days is enough to get used to the changes between phones?

The OP admits that the changes are frustrating, and with human nature, frustration tends to override patience and understanding.

There usually is a work around or equivalent to over coming the differences between phones..(well except that build quality issue, lol.)

Be it different launchers or other apps, you can usually find some common ground.

I would say give yourself a little more time to truly see if there's just no way to get used to the S3, and if that's the case by all means return it and get what makes you happy. In the end that's whats important.

While you owe no one but yourself an explanation as to why you don't like the device, know that when you make posts like this, people are going to pop out of the wood work to impress upon you their opinions of why your "Crazy", lol!!!

Like I said before, you've got to do what makes you happy, screw everyone else.

I agree that OP perhaps jumped the gun too soon on the return, but I understand his/her frustration with Touchwiz as compared to HTC. I'm coming from a year apiece with the EVO 4G and 3D, and after over a week with the GS3/Touchwiz I can conclude that HTC Sense beats Touchwiz IMO hands down. Some direct comparisons:

I like widgets, and HTC has a lot more variety and functionality in their widgets. In particular, their People and Friendstream widgets are must haves that were not available on the GS3. I downloaded Android Pro widgets, which is an acceptable substitute but not as good.

For some reason, Facebook contact links refuse to work on this phone...only Google contact photos are displayed for most apps (the stock Messags app displays photos, but the stock Contacts doesn't...weird!). This may be an ICS thing, but I'm guessing that it works on the LGE 4TE...I had ICS on my Evo and the contact links worked fine. I'm hoping one of the devs gets this fixed in a custom ROM, it's a near deal breaker...I hate those blank photo squares!

Dialer app for HTC is easier to use. The GS3 app for some reason doesn't let me designate a default action. So if I use a contact widget to call someone, I still have to select the number to dial in the dialer app, even if there's only one number...so 2 clicks to call or text someone from a widget, instead of one using HTC. I may be missing something on the GS3, but I can't see how to set the default action.

Having said all that...I'm still sticking with the Sammy. I've had HTC for two years, and it's time for a change...plus I do like the phone, the screen is gorgeous. I'm sure I will adapt to Touchwiz before long, or replace with a new launcher.

I always loved HTC and would love for them to be the provider of the great grandfathered unlimited data phone, but they're not, and as soon as I found that out, I put an AOSP ROM on my phone to get used to the no more sense features. After 2 months, I'm prepared for a naked pure AOSP ROM, which means any extra features in Touchwiz will be great, otherwise I'll be prepared :) Couple more hours! :p

I've changed my mind, this is a great phone. It was a little bit of a shock coming from an HTC phone, but now that I'm getting used to it, this thing is a keeper.

I'm returning the phone after 2 days. I'm so used to the features on the HTC phones that I got frustrated w/ the Galaxy S III. Dont get me wrong, its a great phone but I just wasn't satisfied enough to keep it.

Anyone else have feedbacks on this phone.

WTH, the OP posts this abreviated message and then asks if "anyone else have feedback on this phone" but then never returns to find out what that may be??? Just a little more than peculiar in my eyes.

Well good luck to you March, IF you decide to ever revisit your abandoned thread.

That is ICS not samsung( the internet pass through mode)

So are you saying when the HTC Desire HD upgrades to ICS one will no longer be able to use the Internet Passthough? I think it's down to the Kies connectivity Desktop App. When you connect the USB cable on the HTC you get the option to connect for Internet Passthrough, this is managed via the HTC desktop app and it's drivers. When you connect the USB on a Samsung you get no such option. Only MTP or PTP (for media transfer)
