Help Returning to stock Moto X

I am about to reset my Moto X on AT&T service back to stock, but i was wondering something. Will returning to stock reset the data usage section on my phone. Please respond ASAP. Thanks in advance for the help. :)

P.S. The reason for returning to stock is not the topic. :D

What do you mean by "stock"? Are you currently rooted on a custom ROM?
Also, can't speak for AT&T but I doubt changing ROMs will adjust what your data usage is.

No I am not rooted or on a custom ROM. I have the latest OTA 4.4.2 kitkat update and I would like to get back to the 4.2 version of android. I wanted to know if I downgrade if I got to settings > more > data usage if it will still show the number it shows now.

You need to be rooted to downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.2 and only if you are on the developers edition I believe

Why would I need to be rooted, I was going to downgrade from my PC using adb. I just wanted to know that if I do, will it reset settings > data usage or will that stay?

That was my point, you can't downgrade from 4.4.2 back to 4.2

You don't have have to be rooted only if you were on the Dev edition with unlocked bootloader Once you have 4.4.2 you can't go back to 4.2, maybe down the road but not at this moment

As far as I understand it, the OS is overwritten. To the best of my recollection, there is no way to revert to a prior version. You'd have to simply overwrite the newer version with the older one you desire. And just to satiate my curiosity OP, why so you want to revert?

Because it removes the connectivity thing over the 4g LTE. I don't have unlimited so I would like to know when I am connecting without pulling down notifications.

Ah, that's a fair point. I'd wager that you might be able to find a widget that could help with that? Not nearly as elegant, but it might help in a pinch.

An on/off switch. Turn it on when you need it, off when you don't.

No, my point is that you could put the toggle on your home screen and save yourself some hassle

The idea in my suggestion would be that you turn it on when you need it, so that way you know when you are getting your connection

How much data do you have with your plan. ? Most apps running in the background don't use much data unless you're streaming, listening to music or using your GPS

Why don't you just turn off mobile data? (settings / data usage; slide the switch off at the top). You can use the "Settings" widget (choose "data usage" when prompted) to put a quick shortcut to this settings page on a homescreen when you want to toggle it back on for when you need it.

Many apps have the ability to turn off syncing unless on WiFi. Go through all of your apps and look for that setting.

If you put the Power Control widget on a home screen, you can toggle off automatic background sync (for apps that support that, including Google account sync.) It's the second widget from the right on that control - a toggle.

All that said - I agree with your general premise. Google made a bad UX choice with KitKat when they removed the data activity indicators from the status bar icons. At the very least they could have created a settings option to allow people like you and me, who want to see this activity, to change the default.
