review of samsung galaxy nexus from google play devices/refund??

The google play company is TERRIBLE!!!

So I bought the Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone from google play device store to give someone as a gift and the person that received the gift didn't want the phone so I contacted google for refund.

The phone box has never been opened. I got the google RMA slip and sent the phone back to them. This happened on June 28, 2012.

The phone tracking shipping number indicated that it arrived in Samsung, RSI in Plano, Tx on July 2, 2012.

Now on July 19, 2012, I still haven't received a refund. I called them last Tuesday (July 17, 2012) and the person on the phone said that they have no record indicating that I even request a refund?! I couldn't believe the service. I am in process of calling them now and the call wait is ridiculous. Its already been an hour or two and still on phone :(

My question is this: Did anyone ever got a refund on this phone within 14 business days?? If so how long did it take? Did the refund ever take more than 14 days?

I just got to talk with one of the sales reps. He said that he saw the order and that it reached to the warehouse. He said that the company blames on the Nexus 7 release for delay of my refund. He said it will be a couple days until the refund will be applied.

Overall, I would be careful with dealing with this company!

The company you are talking about is Google by the way. Google Play is just the Android Market rebranded.

That is frustrating-I'm so sorry. On the other hand, you are a super friend to buy someone this phone as a gift. We could all do with friends like that. :D

Yeah I understand that. I am just saying to be careful with this company if you want a refund. I did not get it yet as of today. It has been almost 20 days :(

I don't even have the phone now since I mailed it to them on July 2. I just expected better service when I did my part quick and then it takes forever to get a response.

LOL, you are funny. That "someone" I mentioned was my girlfriend. Its almost three year anniversary so I bought her the gift although she likes the nexus 7 tablet idea better. I took back the phone and bought the tablet instead. The shipping of the nexus 7 tablet from same company was chaotic.

im not impressed with google either.the first time i called them i gave up after 40 minutes.i called again the next day and after 55 minutes finally got to talk to someone but it wasnt the right department even though i picked returns from the menu.she was nice and just went over to talk to someone that did returns to set everything up.i dont like ups and asked her if i could just send it back usps and she said she wasnt sure and to ask the guy when i get the emails.so when the emails came i wrote right back and asked.when i didnt hear back in 2 days i made the long trek to the only ups store in my area.yesterday i finally get an email back from google after 5 days have passed.

now imo waiting on the phone for 50 minutes is unacceptable and so is 5 days to respond to a question about a return.now after reading that you are still waiting for your refund has me wondering how long it will take to get mine

Jeez...the language! Whats so hard? As soon as you shipped it out you should have been on the phone with them explaining your situation. If you don't make any noise you will never get noticed, or in your case get a refund. Shipping a phone out and then just assuming a refund will be issued is not that good of a plan. Calling up with a tracking number the day it shipped out would have probably been a better idea. Either way, that's not really a reason to bash Google or its play store. Calling and then following directions is probably a better route in the future.

This may be true, but it shouldn't be necessary. When dealing with a professionally run company you *should* be able to just ship your item back and get your refund; you *should not* have to follow-up every step of the way, as if you were dealing with a child.

Yeah and your point is....the company still didn't give me a refund. It has been over 14 days. More like 20 days.

I can't speak for Demache, but I almost posted something similar, and my point would have been that it makes you sound like you don't know what company you're dealing with, and this can call into question other parts of your situation. Sure, we all know that you were referring to Google, but...

That said, I don't know if your experience with Google is common, but if it is they have a lot of work to do on their end.

so let me get this straight when you return an item using the shipping label google provides you still shouldnt expect a refund unless you contiue to call about it.sorry that makes no sense to me.maybe only dealing with amazon and newegg has spoiled me when it comes to online purchases but imo google is lacking in this department.when you need to return something to amazon it is quick and painless.you also dont need to spend around an hour to talk to someone or wait days for an email.they also dont have restocking fees something else i never had to deal with before.

Some of you are missing my point.

Ok in the real world...

If you receive something, and you are not happy with it, what do you do? You pick up the phone, call the company that sent you the item, find out the return/refund policy and find out how long it takes to receive a refund once the item is received, find out if there is a restocking fee, etc. Once that is all said and done, wait the 5-7 business days and if you don't see a refund, call the company and see what the story is.

Just sending something back without making a call is just something I wouldn't do...

im still missing your point.nobody in this thread sent something back without making a call first.you have to call to get the shipping label and the rma number which both people did.after that it is googles responsibility to get you your refund in the time frame they specify.now i have no problem waiting the 2 weeks they claim but im not going to jump thru hoops for them.i did my part now its up to them to do theirs.

I've dealt with the Google store a number of times, dating back to the Nexus One..Never have I once had to deal with any issues what so ever.

And I was referring to the original op's post.

If your still hitting a brick wall just call your credit card company and explain the situation. They usually begin an investigation and refund your funds immediately.

im not hitting a brick wall.they received the return an hour or so ago.i just think they shouldnt take so long to get back to you or have you on hold so long.

hopefully it wont take me as long as the op to get the refund but i am a little nervous after reading all that he has been going through.

Don't get to crazy...just call your credit card provider and put a stop on the payment. They usually handle the rest.

So i will update now the thread. It took 18 business days to get my refund. I called them four times and the fourth one, i exploded. I accused them of stealing and the representative said that they will get supervisor. Supervisor took care of it and got refund two more business days after the talk. I had to check the rma code and imei code to make sure they were doin their jobs. The representatives dont know any info on refunds so you HAVE TO CALL FOR SUPERVISOR. It was terrible company and i agree i was spoiled too with how fast amazon does with refund. You do know how I feel now and also the idea of calling credit card was good too. I called paypal and got them to do the dispute when i was angry, now i got to cancel the dispute. It is just a nightmare and here is my advice, keep calling them until you annoy them and give you refund. It is just bs service. I got my girlfriend a phone before and she didnt like that either and i returned it to amazon. Got refund within 2 days. It just upsits me a reputable company does not do their job like amazon does. And that was a 421 dollar phone!!!!
