network vision? is this about the new 4g future plan direction? do you have inside knowledge? TELL US NOW !!!!!!

...

ok never mind, I'll just wait.

If these changes accelerate their plans for those multi modal towers that provide lte+wimax+3g, then I say keep it coming. The most important thing about sprint service is the allowance for unlimited 4g, price is nice too, but the unlimited 4g is key.

Sprint Strategy Update coming on October 7th, significant 4G plans likely to be unveiled -- Engadget

Just to get you a little bit more hyped for tomorrow:

4 out of 5 is too low, that's a B-, if I was back in highschool I would have been disgusted at that grade (college not so much).

You have to compare the grading. (You know, the curve.) Cnet has never given above a 4 star to a cell phone.

(Although the stupidity of never going above four stars has resulted in nearly every advanced smartphone having four stars.)

Another review that complains about call quailty. Getting a bit concern there .... they are located in ny which typically has bad call qaulity for sprint but the photon did well there... (oops; read on)

If you listen to the audio sample they provide it really isn't that great. While they have a sample for the photon; unfortunately (to be fair) you cannot compare the cnet review of photon to the epic touch because (drat) they tested the photon in SF. dang they should test the phones in the same location.

Cnet has reviewed the Epic 4G Touch:

4 out of 5 stars - Very favorable review.

I ordered mine from a local Sprint Authorized Retailer and when I showed up to pick it up, he told me it didn't come in, that Sprint delayed the release date again. I called *2 to ask them about that, spent 5 mins explaining to the barely-english speaking guy what I was looking for, was put on hold twice, and after 12 mins total, I got disconnected. I just wanted to know if the guy in the store forgot to order it and is making up an excuse. I don't see any other announcements about it being delayed.

After reading this forum, I realized I should have just called Sprint directly to get the activation fee waived (with the Premier Gold thing) - I was just trying to give some business to a newer local store.

I'm a long time Blackberry user and was finally going to make the jump over to a touch phone (the BB keyboard and email push are really the ONLY reasons I stay with it now) so I really appreciate everyone's information and links to reviews on here - it helped me break the crackberry habit... now if I can just get the phone!

I'm really sorry to hear that. I think that's why most people prefer a corporate store instead of "authorized resellers." The corporate stores are definitely a lot more professional and seem to care more about the customers in my experience

Wirefly - a great place for phone reviews by the way - has posted a NEW Schmackdown between the Epic 4G Touch and the Photon:

Schmackdown! Motorola Photon vs. Samsung Epic 4G Touch - YouTube

Bob goes with the Epic 4G Touch once again. This was a closer call between the two phones. He says it could have gone either way.

As to call quality, he felt that both phones were good, but gave the balance to the Photon saying that it was somewhat better than the Epic 4G Touch.

Sadly he did not compare the sound quality. I actually think the photon is a litlte louder but the samsung sound is a bit richer or clearer (this is from youtube and test phone calls).

My hearing sucks...even with hearing aids and I can happily report that the "call quality", earpiece speaker and rear speaker are every bit as good on my GSII ET4G as they were on the threee Photons I went through. The only difference so far is that unlike the Photons, the Samsung doesn't have silent call issues and doesn't just randomly shut off for no reason...and the WIFI doesn't lock up :)
