Reviving old inactive moto droid for use as motion camera

I have an old original Moto droid that still works fine but has not been active for about 2-3 years.

I would like to use it as a security camera to record motion to the sd card.

In the future also to access it over wifi.

Some apps I have downloaded, like "Motion Detector" don't seem to work on this phone. I'm thinking because it has an old version of software.

The version is 2.2.3, build FRK76. can anyone tell me if there is a newer update for this phone and where I can download it. (Phone is not rooted).
