Rooting noob. Is there a tool similar to z4root that works on rezound? I'm looking for a temporary/removable root that will still last after a reboot and didn't require me to flash a ROM. I really just want to use titanium backup to get save data from my old phone to my rezound and be able to use wifi tether. Would rather avoid having to use laptop for the root in case the temp root goes away. (i know about the zerg bat one and superone)

sorry,there are no temp root exploits available. only thing at this time is to unlock via htcdev,then flash a recovery,then flash superuser files.
you do not need to run custom roms,you can run stock. my advice would be to unlock,then temporarily flash the recovery to install the superuser root files. doing this will:
-allow for OTAs to happen(yes,you will need to reroot after,but thats no biggie)
-allow the use of root apps
-survive multiple reboots since the root files are being written permanently to the system partition
