Rice in the headphone jack

Part of the jack is a set of connections that are broken when you insert the male end of the headphone plug. This disconnects your external speaker. You are going to have to carefully remove the rice grain and clean out the jack or have the jack replaced. Depending on the phone model it might be an inexpensive part with an easy replacement, or it could be a nightmare that's not worth it.

Had the same problem when I got phone wet and put it in a bowl of rice. I just got a thin toothpick and carefully removed it
