Help Ring Volume

Lurker
I have the Galaxy S3. The volume buttons on the left side of phone do not seem to control the volume of the ringer. Is there a way to do this instead of going into setting then to volume then to ringtone? Thanks.

Are they controlling the media volume instead? My guess is maybe the phone thinks some media is playing (or some app is playing media that you aren't detecting).

If you reboot the phone, does it still not control the ringer?

Not to take away from the OP, but I have a volume question as well. When my phone rings the volume is low for three seconds, then gets louder. Anyway to make it so it's just loud?

I have shut the phone down and still does the same thing. When you go into the volume setting, you have the music volume, ringtone volume, notifications volume, and system volume. Each with their own volume slide bar to adjust sound. The volume buttons on side of phone only seem to adjust volume in ear when talking on phone.

my s3 and my wife's s3 does the same thing, glad its not jsut us -_-

when you press the volume buttons and the volume bar comes on , press the cog on the right of it and you can control the volume for other things as well.

I had the same issue, it was due to playing Ingress, and I had Muted the game. I had to do a reboot and pull the battery. Once it powered back on, the volume rocker now controls the ringer.
