ringtone creator help

Ok guys I'm really new to the android stuff just got my gs3 a couple days ago, when I try to create a tone from any app I get a clicking like noise or nothing at all, I'm using music I download with the g tunes app. A guy I work with uses the same apps but his works fine please can someone help thanks.
 
I made my tones using Audacity, a free Windows sound editor with all kinds of neat stuff like reverb. Then I plugged my USB to the droid, copied it to SD > Media > Audio > Ringones and selected it in Settings.
