Help Ringtone set in Settings doesn't work?

I chose a stock ringtone as my default, and when I test it in the settings, it works. But when I get an actual call, a female voice speaks to me about who is calling?? Not what I chose, and where is this option coming from?

Even if I DID want the spoken voice option, I don't even see it as an option in ringtones settings!?

What am I missing?
 
Ringtone is a sore subject with me as some of the features I need, still do not work, so I'm glad this might help you solve the mystery!

Thanks for getting me to the right place, but I chose the 'Ring Only' option, and I get the "Verizon Wireless" voice THEN the ringtone. How do I get JUST the ringtone?

It's starting to become a sore spot with me, now. ;)
 
That's odd. Mine is set to caller ID then Ringtone but I'm not sure I get the "Verizon Wireless" before the ringtone in any case.

If you get a call from a none Verizon carrier, say from an AT&T caller, will it still say this?

What I'm gettting to is, is it identifying that the person calling you is also on VZ Wirelss or it's reminding you that your phone is on VZ Wireless. :confused:

I'm sitting at my desk in my office (not a Verizon cell phone) and calling my cell phone in my hand. It does this: "Verizon Wireless" THEN my chosen ringtone.

So, since it can't be that the caller is a Verizon caller, it must be reminding me I am. I've just now tried this test from my home land line (Comcast) and now it says the Caller ID, AND the Verizon Wireless, THEN the ringtone. This is annoying.

In my settings, I've chosen 'Ringtone only'. That doesn't sound like ringtone only. Grrr.
 
Just got off the phone with VZN Tech Support, and we figured out that under my Sounds settings a box was checked for "Call Connect". This making the Verizon Lady tell me that my call went through.

Kind of a stupid option if you ask me. This isn't 1905.
 
Glad you got it solved, I would never even think of looking into the sound setting and would not even know what that option was, learn something new everyday!
