Help Ringtone won't save

chuckbear

Lurker
Phone is LG VS870 4G. I have downloaded a couple of ringtones from Verizon Ringtones and use one of them as my standard ringtone. But everytime a shut down the phone it goes back to the default ringtone and I have to reset it. How do I stop this? Thanks.

Exactly how did you save the file and set as your default ringtone? When Android starts up, it looks for specific media folders and if it can't find them, it will return to default settings.

It's saved in Sounds/Phone Ringtones/My Ringtones. In the tick circle, it is checked and saved by choosing OK. It works fine for as long as I don't shut down the phone and restart. Chuck

Try saving it in a folder simply called /sdcard/ringtones and apply it by going into settings>sounds>phone ringtones Now it should be listed along with the default ringtones.

You'll need a file manager like Astro or xPlore then it's pretty much the same way you do on your PC. /sdcard should be the default storage location for any file manager. Just so you know /sdcard isn't an external SD card, it's the internal user storage partition. It's a holdover from when it used to be an actual card.

Hmm. I've never had it not work. Could there be a couple of copies floating around on your phone that might be confusing the system?

Did you ever have a ringtone app? That might cause some issues. If you do, try uninstalling it.
