I went to setting, personalized, ringtone and sound set to install new ringtone. I highlighted the new ringtone in ringtone, changed sound set to the new ringtone but it goes to back to windchimmer which is not highlighted? Can any one help.

Are you on Jelly Bean? Is the ringtone perhaps residing on your SD-EXT card?

I have a notification that I really like (iPhone notification in fact) that I install at the default notification on my Bionic under Jelly Bean. It is constantly being reset to "unknown". It was on thee SD-EXT card. I just moved it to the SD card into Notifications.

I was running out of ideas ... clearly a bug ... and am giving it a try. Still too soon to tell.

Find out your Android version:
Settings > About Phone it's about the fifth one down the list there

Where is the ringtone file you want to use? And is it an MP3? Any MP3 file can be a ringtone. Also, files for ringtones should be on your phone memory instead of your SD card. As when you are connected to a computer, the SD card my not be accessible by your phone and the file will not be available to use as a ringtone during that time you are connected to your PC
