Help Ringtones Ignored

My wife's Droid Charge has a strange problem. Despite having numerous ringtones selected for specific contacts, her phone plays the default ringtone regardless of who calls. The phone is stock and so is the ringtone selector. The really weird part of this is that perhaps once, the ringtones she selected would play when contacts called. But now it's ringing the default tone regardless of who calls. Any clue why that may be and how to correct it? Thanks.

My phone has a similar problem. Sometimes it gets the ringtone right, other times it uses the default ringtone.
