Help Ringtones

MarunaZ

Newbie
I have figured out how to load ringtones both on the phone and copying them from the computer to the proper directory but I can't get the copying/assigning any of these ringtones to my notification ringtones... I have specific audio files that I like for text messaging and I can't use them now? Can it even be done? load your own sounds for text messages?

Create /sdcard/media/audio/notifications.

Put your notifications there.

Thanks! That is about the 4th thing (search) that I tried but this actually worked!

How do you like your phone rooted? I'm new here and trying to figuer out if I want it rooted... I just put the newest firmware update on it and I'm not liking it so far to well... seems to have slowed the phone down

I like to have root access so I can use the command line. I also like it for the ability to over/under clock the cpu, and move my notification tones to the phone's storage.

If you just upgraded to gingerbread from Verizon over the air, there is no way of rooting that at this time. In order to root you would have to SBF (restore to stock), then root, then upgrade to the one of the pre-rooted versions of gingerbread.

another question, after you root it and if you decide you dont like it rooted, can you "reset" it back to factory settings like what I have to do since I have gingerbread? I'm not liking the update more and more each day... I might want to try rooting to see if I like that.

Is there a section here for instructions for resetting the droid to stock?

The all things root section will have everything you need. If there is something you don't understand just ask. There are many knowledgeable and helpful users here for you.
