Root risk vs gain

Im totally new to this rooting and im wondering is it worth it I mean what does bricking mean I now have a 500 paperweight vs making it faster. Is it hard to do?

rooting is not hard just use this [APP]SuperOneClick v1.9.1 (Root, Unroot, Enable Non-Market App) - xda-developers and rooting doesn't make your phone faster it allows you to access systems files so you could install a custom ROM such as http://www.teamdefuse.com/roms/ which make your phone faster and more responsive. 9.9 time out of 10 if you follow the directions of developers to the letter or not turn it off while update/installing you will not brick your phone (paperweight).
