Roaming Charges

Hi,
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Ace and am going out of the country and want to ensure that I dont get any roaming fees, how do I turn this off while I'm away? Also I will want to text while I'm away and wonder how this will be affected if roaming is deactivated.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

Since each phone has slightly different menu options you'll want to ask in Samsung Galaxy Ace - Android Forums for specific instructions. Normally you would go to menu>settings>wireless&networks>mobile networks and make sure data roaming is NOT checked. You can shut down all the radios, if you go into airplane mode, but you won't get any text or calls. You'll need to keep your phone on to receive/send SMS messages. Be advised that they can get quite expensive internationally. Check with your carrier to see if they have pricing for that.
