Roaming wifi

[Android Question]

I've just bought my first smartphone (samsung s3) so I'm a complete novice. I tried to connect to macdonalds wifi and it said it was connected but I couldn't access my email or connect to the internet. I'm sure its just a setting but cant seem to figure out which one. I usually have 3g switched off as its expensive when I'm abroad. Can anyone help?

Hi. It can be your Sammy is recognising a wifi network, but you still need to log in via a site, using the log in name and code given on the McD's receipt.
