Rogers Update is Here

From what I've read (I won't know until I update), I'm not sure anything has changed other than it shows you an H now where before if it was connecting in 3G or HSPDA it would just show a 3G. I think it is just more specific now, nothing else. I hope I'm wrong though.

cool, if brazil has it we'll get it soon. if by friday i don't have it i'll guess i have to get it by my own way....

I'm thinking about rooting to 2.1 when Rogers releases the 2.1, since AT&T doesn't have a clue. It should work fine since we both have the x10a, am I correct?

Yes, and Rogers does not block all the features like AT&T. Installing any version of X10a will be the same except the restrictions or crapware added by the carrier, so I would suggest you install a generic one instead of Rogers.

If anyone has any interest in the build number

Rogers does not block anything from the phone... they only give their boot logo :p

was the same way with my K790a and about any other cell i had with them
---------------
Telus blocks important things

true story
my brother had a HTC touch (WM 5 or 6)
the gps was locked (not very usefull in our case but still...)
wifi was physically disabled (iirc the card was removed)

Yeah. in fact we don't have much crap in our phones... just a splash screen and 1 app...

From what i see, its

Rogers MyAccount App
Rogers Shop App
Rogers UrMusic App
Rogers Browser Homepage [course could change it]
Removal of Sony PlayNow App

Unless they keep PlayNow for the 2.1 update haha.

Bolded are all Uninstallable.
Corporate Homepage is hardly a Rogers-exclusive :)

Compared to alot of other Wireless companies, Rogers users get off pretty easy in terms of disabled stuff/unremovable homescreen apps, etc.

lol not yet.. keep waiting... i've been checking SEUS and PC comp everyday

one weird stuff i've found with rogers... it uses a google OS...but uses Yahoo! as homepage...

For giggles I just did a PC support chat session with Rogers and they said they don't have any information on when it would be available but it will be downloadable from the Rogers web site. I'm assuming either they don't know much about how this works or they mean PC Companion will be downloadable. Either way... they know to say something, but it isn't very helpful :)

I'm guessing the 4506 and 4507 models may just mean "Black" and "White" x10's

Rogers tech/customer support are just script readers who either get no info or told not to tell. They are useless most times

from what i have read, none of the big issues that i have been having with this phone will be corrected by thje 2.1 update anyhow.... but i keep checking none the less.... i should have bought an acer Liquid E :(

I debranded my phone almost as soon as I got it, so I was wondering if the APN settings are blocked or if you can delete/add settings on the branded version.
