Root Rom and Kernel help

So I've rooted my HTC Explorer and decided i want to install a rom.
Ive looked at JaggyRom 3 and CyanogenMod 9.1 for HTC Explorer

Does anyone have any experience with either or both?

also, ive recently seen forum posts about custom kernels or something?
for example the Cranium

How i understood it from what ive read is that it doesnt actually change anything, it just improves battery life and stuff.

There are very few rooted Explorer users unfortunately.

If you've installed a custom recovery, do a Nandroid backup of your stock ROM and feel free to experiment. If something goes wrong or you don't like the difference you can always restore.

its working great I don't need computer or 3 rd party app to partition ad card many other features working flawlessly .I have played many games like GTA vc GTA 3 many other great Rom!!!!
