ROM display

Hi all,
I have a general question. My phone has a 2 GB ROM installed, but it's only displaying 1 GB total. Is that because of a file size limitation in Android's programming?

No. The my Galaxy S has 16Gb internal memory and I also have a 16Gb external micro-SD card. Mount it on your PC to check what your PC shows. Maybe you need to reformat it.

Reformat what? My sd card? My sd card displays a total of 8GB, which is what it's supposed to display. It's the INTERNAL memory that only displays 1GB out of 2.

I can't say it's the general file limitation for Android but it seems that it is for your particular device. Normally, the on board memory is partitioned for Andriod stuff like boot, system, recovery , cache, user data and maybe some other things that I can't remember . It looks like 1gb is saved for user data which is for your apps, contacts, messages etc.

It's weird because LG says that the model has 2GB of internal storage plus an additional 500 some mb of ram... But none of the programs that display the internal memory size display the full amount available... I guess that my first mistake was getting an LG to begin with...
