Root ROM files not showing up on SD card

I wanted to flash and try a couple of ROMs, but the files aren't showing up on my SD card, i.e., when I'm in Recovery and make the menu choice 'Install zip from SD card' the files are not there. I even created a separate folder for the files and they're still not there.

Write the entire directory! like sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/...

like give the directory where u put the files. and the files are .zip files right? If all else fails JUST PUT THE FILES IN THE SDCARD ROOT

keep in mind that you need to wipe everything before a ROM install otherwise it will go wrong 50% of the time which is what happened to me a lot. just a heads up.
