Root Rom help?

A ROM is the actual operating system you place on a phone for it to function. Motorola phones use Motoblur over top of Android, and HTC uses Sense over top of andriod, the iPhone uses iOS. It's the same concept of running Vista or Windows 7 on your PC.

If you are looking into changing the ROM on your phone over to a custom one, you'll need to do some research first. :)

I'm going to move your thread over to the Connect 4G All Things Root forum so the root users for this phone can get you the best advice. ;)

what granite said,but the ROMs are tweaked and modified for either: better battery life,better performance,overclocking the cpu to make it run faster than intended,etc.Some roms include most of those tweaks while some dont,just depends on what YOU want your phone to do.some even include audio mods and video mods in them.

You would have to root your device and install clockword mod to install the ROMs,theirs some pretty good guides on this forum that explain it all.

And what about themes?
 
Themes are so you can change the look of the rom,icons,colors,fonts,etc,some roms have em some dont

4.MAKE A BACK UP FIRST!

5.download the rom you want from the forum,put it on your sdcard,go into CWM by holding volume down key and power.you'll get a screen that says factory reset.press power a few times and it should reboot into a new menu.
6.go to install zip from sdcard and look for the rom you put on your sdcard.


keep in mind that some roms will delete ALL your data so back up anything before you do.
