Help ROM incompatibility (why????)

You're being vague, so there's no possible answer other than one made up from smoke.

Is it very hard to put lawnmower tires on a semi truck and get it to roll down the road?

Yeah - impossible.

Without constraining the question to specifics there's no discussion possible. :)

Heat the tires over a fire, stretch em and resize/shape em.
I want aokp on my sgh-t599n, but it's nowhere to be found. There's a thread here, but it's downloads are all invalid/expired.

OK, it's nowhere to be found for your particular phone. And download links can and do expire as things might be deleted or moved, that's fact of life. :)

Suppose you could find or pay some willing and knowledgeable developers to make, adapt, stretch and resize for you.

I don't know really. Are you willing to pay $$$$ for a ROM developer to make or adapt a suitable ROM for your phone? e.g. Cyanogen, AOKP. Most ROM devs are voluntary, doing it as a hobby, and of course they can only make ROMs for the devices they have, have information for them, and because they want to do it. Very importantly, has the manufacturer made the appropriate kernel modules and drivers available for custom ROM development on their device? Because if they haven't, you won't get a ROM other than what the manufacturer provides.

There's http://androidforums.com/forums/rom-development.2535/ ... and XDA Devs as well of course.
