Rom Manager ClockworkMod not in Android Market

Murrfk

Newbie
I have two identical CDMA Hero phones on different networks (neither are Sprint). I cannot locate Rom Manager in the Android Market. I have tried going to the market through my phone, and going to the website. I have tried finding a link and doing a barcode scan (link was not available).

I had it already on one of the Heros, so I was able to get it over to the other by using the apk, but is it now missing from the market? Should I not be using it on this phone?

Weird. ROM Manager still shows up for me in the Android Market on my restored Nandroid of my stock Android 2.1 ROM.

I guess your only choice, at the moment, is to sideload ROM Manager. Cheers.

I did load it as an apk file, but I also find it strange that it is not showing up with either phone, and they are on different carriers. I am pretty sure I originally downloaded the free ROM manager on the first phone, but now, the program doesn't show up on either of them, even if I use the barcode to try to locate it. Weird is right. Anyways, it is not a problem for me, but I thought that I should post to let others know. Seems it isn't a problem for others though!

Follow up: I flashed the hero phone with WildHeroc [RC4] and went to the Market. Free ClockworkMod Rom Manager came up as first item in search for "Rom Manager". So it is definitely there and had something to do with the Alltel Rom I had on the phone previous or the particular Android version.

Was your Alltel Wireless handset stuck on Android 1.5 originally? That might be why ROM Manager was not showing up?

I believe ROM Manager is an Android 2.1 and up app these days. So, if your handset made the Android Market think that it was on Android 1.5, ROM Manager would not show up.

As far as I know (I bought this used) it has always been on 2.1. Alltell didn't have a 1.5 that I can see. I think you are right that it has something to do with the phone identity though. I loaded 1.5 onto the phone, and I can't get any clockworkmod apps to show.

I have had this same problem with my HTC HERO through Sprint.......Cannot locate Rom Manager only the premium......I have gotten as far as rooting my phone, but no luck upgrading to 2.2 or 2.3.....it's shows it is running 2.1 now, but originally it had 1.5. I'm stuck at this point and really want to upgrade it....Did anyone figure out this solution?

Search for the .apk file, copy it onto your phone sd card, and then use a file manager to install it from the sd card.

ROM Manager is no longer showing up for people running Android 2.1 and below. This is because ROM Manager only supports Android 2.2 and up now.

If you go into the web version of the Android Market and search for ROM Manager, you will see those versions requirements I mentioned above. Your only choice is to sideload the ROM Manager .apk file and install it manually using a file explorer like EStrongs File Explorer.

I'm stuck on this part myself. I've located the version I need of their site, downloaded it and have found it using Astro. But then I don't know what to do from there. Its just a folder full of files that don't do anything for me.

I'm having the same problem. Purchased the Premium version from the Market, however, this is only the license - requires that you install ROM Manager Free. Found the APK on another site and installed, but when I ran it, I got an "Invalid License" message. Kind of ticks me off - sounds like I paid for something that is worthless to me.

I went to the Clockworkmod website and of course there is no "contact us" section, but did find their Twitter account and asked how to get the software now that I've purchased a license.

That said, if you've rooted your phone, ROM Manager is only one way to to flash new ROMs.

You guys must be using an older version of the market, it has since updated to Google Play store, and Rom Manager free edition is there

I use Rom Manger also, but I only use it once to flash a recovery, after that I never use the app, if I want to go into recovery or fastboot, I do that the old fashion way manulaay, or you can all download an app called Quickboot, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot&hl=en

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en

The Google Play Store is only compatible for Android 2.2 and up. If they are on the stock Android 2.1 with HTC Sense ROM, then they will not see ROM Manager available for download.

Your only choice is to go and find the .apk file. I do believe that it is available on the developer's website.
