Lurker
hi,
so first i wanted to install a custom rom onto my rooted droid, but it wouldnt let me install anything. it started and then gave me a "!" sign and stopped. so i set my settings back to stock and rooted again and then just tired to load my back up, but this time there was a straight "!" sign. so my question is what am i doing wrong?

ps. i think i did the wipe, since rom manager asked me, and i checked it. and i tried setting rom manager to load an older version, whcih wouldnt work.

currently im using:
2.1 stock
rooted and rom manager v3.0.0.7 and my clockwordmod recovery 2.5.0.1

thanks!

If you're getting that in recovery then there's something wrong with the update you're trying to apply (incomplete or corrupt download, etc). Try posting in a rooting/custom ROM subforum.

ROM Manager isn't the way to go if you are inexperienced. Go and read this thread over on XDA, watch a few videos, then try it again. Study, follow the directions, and you'll have your custom ROM installed soon enough.

Flash clockworkmod recovery in ROM Manager and try it again. Do this even if it says you have the right version already.

hey thanks for all the answers. i will look at the links posted, and then try it again.
@wayrad
i tried flashing into recovery but it wouldn't let me. there was just a exclamation mark in the middle.

you tapped where it said "flash clockworkmod recovery", right? Not the boot into recovery option.
