Root ROM manager

Klutch

Newbie
I tried a search and didn't find what I was looking for, so I apologize if this is in another thread. I was wondering, with ROM Manager you can download ROM's, do these ROM's work with my phone "as is" without having to change kernels or anything?

Thank You,
Klutch

honestly rom manager is pretty useless on this phone....but regardless...the rom you use, whether its from rom manager, here, xda, whatever...has to be the same os version you are currently on...if you are dl09/ea28..then you would only be able to use a dl09 rom unless you upgraded to froyo or something

regardless...you need to have cwr to flash these roms...or you can push an all in one upgrade/update through odin

but "as is" changes depending on your specific set up...if you tell us what you are on/have done to your phone im sure one of us could set you in the correct direction

I have a samsung fascinate. I rooted it and am running :

Firmware Version:
2.1-update1

Baseband Version:
S:i500.04 V.EA28

Kernel Version:
2.6.29

I'm very new to all this and would love to run froyo, but I don't want to mess up the phone, so I want to make sure I understand everything first. Any help is GREATLY appreciated

first thing you will need is clockwork recovery...im on my phone sitting at the doctors right now otherwise id link you to the cwr thread in xda under fascinate android development....theres a bug in ea28/dl09 where you have to flash a custom kernel upon your first boot into cwr or stock recovery will replace it on the next reboot

so make sure you have a custom (voodoo or non voodoo) kernel on your sdcard before you push cwr in odin and boot into it
