Root ROM not flashing correctly?

I have a HTC one m8 verizon edition which I have s-off, TWRP installed and I successfully installed the Google Play Edition rom but now I'm trying to flash android revolution for m8 and according to recovery it successfully installed but seconds after that my phone shuts off and won't turn on unless I press power and volume up for a few seconds. Even then it won't get past HTC one screen. Am I doing something wrong?

I have TWRP 2.7.0.2 and from what I understand there's a newer version. Would I need to upgrade it? And if so how would I??

Do you have ODIN?
Odin will allow you to flash backup images to unroot or reroot your device.
I always have Odin ready when I mess with my phone's OS or anything.

i might be wrong but i think if you flash gpe and then try a sense rom it won't work.. due to smaller partition for gpe.. i think :-\

have just checked in the everything root thread that is pinned at the top of the forum.. there might be some info there

Does anyone know if this is true? If so how do I get back to sense?

yes,this is absolutely true.

you have not flashed firmware, correct? if you have youll need to reflash your stock firmware first.

if all you have done is flash a GPE rom via recovery, try to:
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe boot
-wipe system

then flash the rom.

the current prollem, i would assume,is that the recovery is not able to install the entire system without wiping it first.

i see you have some other threads. did this not work for you?

I figured out why it was happening but as of now I'm still stuck on this google play ROM. I'm trying to flash the stock ruu but for some reason it won't transfer. I just get "target reported max download size" error. :(

I found out the reason I can't flash android revolution. I went from stock ROM to google play edition ROM (Now keep in mind I'm on Verizon so I have the sense version of my phone). Due to partition size differences, I cannot flash another sense based ROM in recovery as I did with the google play ROM.

So that leaves me with the option of flashing the stock RUU to return to stock. The problem NOW is that my computer won't transfer the ruu via command prompt. It should, but doesn't. I get the "target reported max download size" error.

I'm currently following this article: http://www.droidviews.com/restore-verizon-htc-one-m8-to-stock-rom-with-ruu. I'm following the exact same commands, but my computer just won't send the file. I think its my computer. So I'm going to try a friends computer when I can. But until then, that is the problem I now face.

so did you try this??

again, this is exactly how folks who flashed the GPE "home brewed" ruu were getting back to sense afterward.

I didn't flash a GPE ruu, I flashed the ROM. And flashing the stock firmware through ruu/fastboot mode is exactly what I'm trying to do now before I can install the ROM through recovery

i understand that you did not flash the ruu. but you still need to wipe system, boot and data in order for a different rom to flash.

you are not trying to install firmware, you are installing a home-made ruu, wich is why you are having prollems.

if all you have done is install the rom, then the rest of your firmware(radios, hboot, etc) is still stock, and you do not need to flash firmware.

you just need to wipe system, data, boot as i described and you should be able to flash a new rom.

you might try a different stock rom, such as this one: [ROM][8/17] - CleanROM 1.4 -★| Fully A… | Verizon HTC One (M8) | XDA Forum

or even this one, wich is completely stock: [ROM][5/15/14] - Stock Rooted - VZW OTA 1.55… | Verizon HTC One (M8) | XDA Forum

Okay so is wiping the boot the key step? And do I want to do a COMPLETE data wipe? (Including internal memory and all) or just the basic?

Youre being incredibly helpful!! But The only thing about your suggestion that confuses me is this: when I tried installing android revolution, according to TWRP, the install was "successful" but then the phone turns off seconds later by itself.. So how does wiping boot stop that from happening? Because it didn't do that when I installed GPE. I had to hit reboot myself.

wiping boot is not the key step, wiping system is. recovery may have thot the install was successful, but not actually been due to the partition difference sizes.

the other option is that diespite the fact that ARHD lists support for "all variants" that it is really not supporting verizon. this is why i also suggested trying of the other roms.

you dont need to wipe your interna, storage. just:
-system
-boot
-wipe data/factory reset

you can try with ARHD,but if it still wont boot, dont get discouraged, try one of the others i linked, which came from the vzw forum :)
