Root Rom status (some assistance needed)

While we still need a working recovery to use it, I have (what I think is) a working rom.

Since I don't have access to the phone, I could use a little help as several Google apps and the new updates refuse to deodex. Quickmemo can be gotten from the Play Store, I think it's the same and I will throw that in, but I need someone to confirm that it's the same thing and pull the APK. Music2 refuses to deodex, if someone could tell me what that is, it would help. Maybe there is a copy on the Play Store, or maybe we can find a deodexed version somewhere. Help here would be appreciated as well.

The rest of Google apps aren't an issue, they can be downloaded and put into the rom (which I will do). The other two apps in the update are pretty much pointless. The original Sprint installer works fine, and the Zone My Account is pointless/useless and something I usually remove anyhow, so I will probably just leave the originals if they will deodex. Otherwise they may just remain odexed, it's not a big deal really as deodexing is just easier to mod.

Currently the plan is to have a stock rom, Aeneas rom, and a Harmonia rom done next time I get the urge to mess with them (there is no rush). All will be rooted (SuperSu), deodexed and busyboxed. Aeneas and Harmonia will add boot animation support, apps2d, and init.d. Aeneas will have all of the stock files, while Harmonia will have the usual junk removal, minor themeing, and a few uninstallable extras (including a wireless tether app). Stock and Aeneas will be open for others to modify and upload for others. Harmonia remains closed as I prefer to maintain that myself.

We still need a working recovery to use them, but as of now, yes, I have a working rom for the Elite (near as I can tell). It still needs finishing and then changed into the three various versions, so it's not ready just yet, but close. Once we get a working recovery, we will need some brave souls to test (not really that risky since we can always restore with the TOT file if all else fails) and then you guys can have at them.

The Quickmemo in the play store is not the same and music2 might be google music.

Hi Leslie, I actually don't have access to a computer for the week(im in a different state), so I can't tell you if it is different, but I'll upload it in case if somebody else can.

I don't have the new firmware. I'm still at ZV4, so my if the Music2 on the update is different than mine, you've got your answer.

I just double read your post, and Im not sure if that's what you needed. Oh well, its 5:00 in the morning and im pretty tired, so ill post it anyways and you can play around with it if you want. Its a zip file with the music2.apk and music2.odex- https://www.box.com/shared/990d2b02e31da4c31363

Id say music2 isnt really needed. i believe its google music. some may have dome use for it though. music apk works pretty much the same. and you can get google music (music2) from play store if the original wont deodex. and you woek fast! lol,as always thank you for everything leslie. i look forward to all three varieties. especially harmonia.

I'm with Curtis, I don't think music2 is necessary. I have it frozen and everything works just fine without it.

This thread gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. I'll be happy to test your roms whenever we have a recovery.

This is off topic, but I don't want to waste peoples time starting a new thread. I turned my phone on today, and I have a semi-root thing. I can't use su at all, and root checker basic tells me I'm not rooted, but I can browse root directories with es file explorer. I can read root files like build.prop, but I can't write to them. I think that for some reason my phone stopped mounting the system partion as rewritable. I would love to plug it into my computer and redo a root, but I am without a computer for the next 6 days. Any ideas on what I could do? Could I run a terminal app and do something with it? Thanks all :) and sorry for hijacking your thread.

I noticed some strange behavior today. I mounted /system as rw in Root Explorer to delete an extra copy of framework-res.apk (/system/framework-res.apk) and afterword could not mount back to ro. I rebooted and that obviously set /system back to ro, but I still thought it was strange. Superuser still seemed to be working.

Music2 is Google Play Music
Thanks, that takes care of that. Just need the Quickmemo, I'll look around and see what I can find out. If I can't find it, I'll just leave it odexed. I may leave the newer files that way too. No rush regardless, since we don't have the recovery.

As for the roms,
As silly as it sounds, I can't guarantee it will install, but I know it will work if we can get it on the phone. As we get closer, I can walk someone through the process to update the boot.img and pull it. That way we get the whole updated rom.
